Put your lime coats on before the frost

Here in Norfolk the frost hasn’t quite hit us yet which has been lucky as we’ve been trying to finish the final coat of lime render on the cob-bale extension. If you try and lime render when the frosts are here the render will crack. We find the best time of year to lime is September as you don’t want the weather to be too hot either. If your lime render dries too quickly it will crack as well. If you are rendering in the heat then make sure you keep the render damp with a fine spray of water and protect it from direct sunlight. We’ll take you through lime rendering on the 4 day course. We’re taking bookings now for 2014.

Here’s Kate’s beautifully smooth lime render just on!
